Arcus Gives Back
At Arcus, we believe that it is essential to give back to the community. Whether it’s our local community or our global community – we believe that to be responsible citizens, we must give of ourselves. Often, we give back by volunteering hours of our time as an organization. Frequently, we give back on an individual basis. Always, we are looking for ways to make our planet greener through the initiatives that we have implemented in our offices.
Locally, Arcus participates in several community outreach initiatives. Near and dear to our hearts is the Bethesda Mission. This organization serves homeless men, women and children in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area. For the past two years, Arcus has spearheaded a massive food collection initiative, Can Hunger that provides the Bethesda Mission with food to feed its constituents. Last year, more then 9 tons of food was collected, and this year we expect to exceed that amount. In addition to the Can Hunger initiative, Arcus also supports the Women and Children’s Shelter of the Bethesda Mission by providing hands-on labor and supplies.
Another organization with whom Arcus has partnered is the Harrisburg University of Science & Technology, an independent educational institution offering academic and research programs in mathematics, science and technology. We provide practical knowledge in several key areas including resume writing, interview skills, job searching and soft skill awareness. We are very proud of our involvement with this program, and have hired interns and a full-time employee who graduated from HU.
“Can Hunger” Initiative - Thank You!
Someone needs blood every two seconds, whether it be an accident victim, newborn or cancer patient, and as such, we have partnered with the Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank, which happens to be located across the street from our corporate headquarters. Every six weeks or so, Arcus employees enthusiastically roll up their sleeves to offer the gift of life to unknown beneficiaries.
Making the planet better for each other and for those yet to come is important to us at Arcus. In our corporate headquarters we utilize centralized and eco-friendly copiers and printers to cut down on waste and paper usage. We recycle in all areas of our office and in the Arcus Café and are always looking for ways to go green.
